What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a site keeps in your browser to remember something between visits. Alongside cookies there are similar mechanisms, such as local storage (localStorage), which this site uses far more than actual cookies.

What we use and why

Technical and functional storage (no consent required)

  • Your light, dark or automatic theme preference.
  • Your favourite calculators and your recent calculation history.
  • Your decision about this very cookie policy.

All of that lives in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device, we never receive it, and we cannot read it from our servers. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Admin panel session cookie

It is only created if you sign in to the site's administration area, and its sole purpose is keeping you logged in. It is a technical cookie, flagged HttpOnly and SameSite, and it expires when you log out or after a period of inactivity.

Aggregate measurement (you can refuse this)

We count how many times each calculator is visited and used. It is a counter per tool and language. We also log each page view anonymously (which page, in which language, what kind of site you came from and, if the search engine sends it, what you searched for) using an identifier that is renewed every day and cannot be used to recognise you from one day to the next. We do not store your IP address in clear text or the values you type, and we use no cookies for this. It cannot be used to work out who you are or what you calculated. If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” signal (DNT or GPC), we do not log your visit. To curb bulk scraping of the site we also count pages per minute for each connection, using an anonymous summary of the IP address that is deleted within a few minutes.

Google AdSense advertising (only if you accept it)

This site may show Google AdSense ads. They only load if you give permission in the privacy notice (the “Advertising” box); if you refuse, nothing from Google is loaded. Google and its partners may use cookies and identifiers to show ads, limit how often they repeat and measure their effect. How Google uses that information: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can withdraw your permission at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.

What we do not use

  • No social network cookies.
  • We do not sell or hand data to advertisers ourselves: the ads are handled by Google.
  • We do not build user profiles of our own.

Changing your choice

You can review your decision at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. You can also delete everything we have stored from your browser settings, or from this site's own clear-history button.
