In short

What it calculates
Pro-rata Christmas bonus, holiday, holiday premium and compensation, from your start and leaving dates.
Formula used
Daily salary = monthly salary ÷ 30
Example
A salary of $18,000, from 15/06/2021 to 20/09/2026, unfair dismissal, 10 holiday days owed:

Mexico severance calculator

Final pay and severance are not the same thing, and mixing them up costs money: final pay is what you are always owed; severance adds compensation, and only applies if the dismissal was unfair.

Enter both dates and pick the reason.

How it works

The pro-rata Christmas bonus counts from 1 January of the year you leave, not from the day you joined. Holiday is paid for the days never taken, with a 25% premium on top.

Unfair dismissal compensation is three months of salary plus twenty days for each year of service.

Formula

Daily salary = monthly salary ÷ 30

Pro-rata bonus = daily × 15 × (days this year ÷ 365)
Holiday = daily × days untaken
Premium = holiday × 25%

Compensation = daily × 90 + daily × 20 × years

Worked example

A salary of $18,000, from 15/06/2021 to 20/09/2026, unfair dismissal, 10 holiday days owed:

Daily salary: $600
Pro-rata bonus: $6,460.27
Holiday: $6,000 · premium: $1,500
Compensation: $117,221.92

Total: $131,182.19

Explanation

The difference between the two words is the whole point. Final pay is always due, whether you resign or are dismissed: it is what you had already earned and not yet been paid. Severance only applies when the dismissal is unfair, and it compensates the loss of the job.

Annual holiday entitlement rose with the 2023 reform: twelve days in the first year, two more each year up to twenty in the fifth, then two more every five years. The tool shows what your service entitles you to, though what gets paid is what you did not take.

It leaves out the seniority premium, which is twelve days a year with the salary capped at twice the minimum wage and only due in certain cases, and the tax withheld on the taxable parts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between final pay and severance?

Final pay is owed in every case: pro-rata bonus, holiday and premium. Severance adds compensation for unfair dismissal.

Do I get compensation if I resign?

No. On resigning you get your final pay, but not the three months or the twenty days per year.

How much is the compensation?

Three months of salary plus twenty days for each year worked, when the dismissal is unfair.

How many holiday days am I entitled to?

Twelve in the first year and two more each year up to twenty in the fifth; after that, two more every five years. That has been the law since 2023.
